The RF President’s Research Center for Civil Law was established as a consultative body for the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. It provides legal expertise and counsel on legislative initiatives, coordinates CIS civil law codification, and undertakes legal research on complex issues of Russian civil law. One of the Center’s major undertakings was conclusions on the interpretation and possible application of certain provisions of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. The team of professionals consists of widely acknowledged scholars and attorneys in the fields of constitutional law, all branches of civil law, comparative law, and legislature.
It forms the foundation for a unique educational establishment – the Russian School of Civil Law – a two year graduate law program awarding a Master’s degree in Civil Law. The program combines an unmatched professorial staff with academic studies that blend legal theory and legislative experience.
The Research Center also serves as the Secretariat for the Civil Law Codification Council for the Office of the RF President (http://www.kremlin.ru/articles/207450.shtml). Composed of highly acclaimed lawyers, it provides guidance to the President on the enhancement of civil law and coordinates legislative activities of various governmental bodies.
